Brave Maggie and Johannes, this was – by far – the coldest, windiest (and I am talking WIND here) day I, personally, EVER spent outside. It was cold to a point I couldn’t change the film rolls anymore. Here´s where a DSLR comes in handy. But not only this pretty courageous couple made this shooting outstanding, also the amazing storm and ice colors and the power nature displayed when the sun came out and hit frozen Lake Neusiedl “Flat Lake” (Austria). We were standing on a pier, and it didn´t take more than 3 seconds sunshine for the perfectly closed icecap to explode open with a big BAAM. It started of with a huge crack right next to our pier. It raced through the whole lake until we couldn’t see it anymore. Only moments after, the whole lake cracked open. The power of exploding ice made the 20 inch tree trunks the pier was built on jump around like little kids trying to hit a piñata. We were like “f* maybe we should leave this place before the lighthouse joins the party”, but the show was over as quick as it started, it only took 2 Minutes that changed the look of the lake completely. What an amazing thing to experience, and one more memory to cherish when they look at their pictures.
